Three Rivers, CA -to- Sequoia National Park, CA -to- Patterson, CA

Tunnel Rock...Ross didn't want to walk under the rock and "tempt fate"....

Interesting plants at Sequoia National Park

The craziest, windiest road we've ever been on!  Glad we were in the Jeep and not the RV!

Giant Forest

Amazing trees (one tree equals about 140 railcars of lumber - whoa!!)!

Chipmunk

The park is famous for its giant sequoia trees, including the General Sherman tree, one of the largest trees on Earth. The General Sherman tree grows in the Giant Forest, which contains five out of the ten largest trees in the world.

It was a steep climb back from viewing the General Sherman Tree....I consider this mountain hiking.

Sequoia National Park contains a significant portion of America's longest mountain range, the Sierra Nevada. Included in the Park's mountainous landscape is the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States, Mt. Whitney, which rises to 14,505 feet above sea level.

We did not do our homework before going to Sequoia....we went from an elevation of 500ft at the park entrance to over 7,000ft in the 20 miles it took to get the Giant Forest.  The temperatures went from 79 to a chilly 49 degrees.  We were the only goofballs in shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops.  Lesson learned - read up on tourist spots before heading out!!

Maxie on the beach! The water was quite chilly!!

Happy pug!

Binky waiting for dinner

Cross-country travel makes Maxie so sleepy!

In Central California....Palm Tree Avenue to the Patterson, CA camp site.
