Free "limo" rides from the RV park to the Big Texan Restaurant.  Yikes.

The Big Texan Steak Ranch is located in Amarillo, TX.  The Big Texan is best known for its 72 oz (4.5 pounds) steak nicknamed "The Texas King." The steak is free to anyone who, in one hour or less, can eat the entire meal, consisting of the steak itself, plus bread roll with butter, baked potato, ranch beans, shrimp cocktail, and salad; otherwise, the meal costs $72.00. Those who have successfully consumed the Texas King meal have their names recorded and posted at the restaurant. As of March 15, 2011, over 8,800 people out of about 50,000 have accomplished this feat.  You can see the stage with the clocks in the back.

See Ross in the middle - he DID NOT attempt "The Texas King" challenge....

Nor did Kimberly Caron

The record for the shortest time needed to finish the entire Texas King meal is held by competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut.  He finished the challenge in 8 minutes and 52 seconds, breaking Frank Pastore's 1987 record (of 9½ minutes, which stood for 21 years) on his March 24, 2008 visit. The unofficial record is held by a 500-pound Siberian Tiger who ate the steak in 90 seconds.  The restaurant has been featured in several movies and TV shows.

Welcome to Arizona!  On the way to the Grand Canyon!

I-264 on the way to the Grand Canyon....Google Maps wanted to make sure we knew what road we were on.

Hopi Cultural Center - a nice place to stop for lunch.

View from the home office...wow.

HUGE dandelions

One of us tried the Hopi Specialty Entree "Paatupsuki" and one of us had the kid's cheese pizza.   Your guess.....

Yum (really) - great Hopi bean soup (tasted like Kenny's bean soup....mmmmmm).

That rock looks like a face!

Grand Canyon National Park

Wow.

Double wow.  Incredible.  Easily one of the best sights we've seen.  Even better than the Big Texan Ranch Steakhouse restaurant.

This is a picture Ross took about 50 feet away from the fencing.  Something about "fear of heights". ....

Self-pic at the GC.
