Phoenix, AZ -to- Bakersfield, CA

Two stops and 500 miles find us back in the Pacific Time Zone.  The temperature is in the 70's during the day and 40's at night.  We have another stop in California, one in Oregon, and then Saturday in Vancouver, WA.  We will be back in Tacoma on Sunday.

Bakersfield, located in the San Joaquin Valley, is also known as the country music capital of California.  It was founded in 1869.  According to the 2010 census, Bakersfield is the ninth largest city in California; its population is 347,483.  Bakersfield was named for Thomas Baker.  Baker was a colonial militia colonel in Ohio before the gold rush brought him to California as a lawyer.
