Heading out to the coast to find a log suitable for an endtable / footrest (boy, that sounds really Oregonian) |
Around 90 degrees in the valley and 60 degrees at the coast |
The hunting grounds |
Plenty of driftwood, but finding just the right piece is tougher than you would think |
Resident stick expert |
Even though Tinker likes it, this log is about 1000 lbs too heavy |
She wasn't happy with the end of this one |
A nice handsawn giant log, about 40' long and three feet across. It wouldn't fit in the jeep or apartment. |
The search continued... |
She spotted a possibility! |
It was just there waiting for us |
Not as heavy as it looked (but still heavy) |
After about a 1/3 of a mile walk to the road, Tinker met us in the jeep. |
Now just going to dry out on the balcony during the heat wave next week (110 degrees - yikes), then some bark removal and sanding, a little more drying and then sealing should get her ready to go |
